Sequence-of-events, fault and dynamic disturbance recording requirements assessed against the plant's own files, with equipment gaps, data requests and the readiness report produced from the record.
About this module
The new PRC-028-1 standard establishes disturbance monitoring and reporting requirements specifically for Generator Owners (GOs) of inverter-based resources (IBRs) on the Bulk Electric System. The standard requires GOs to install and maintain equipment capable of recording and storing key data, such as Sequence of Event Recording (SER), Fault Recording (FR), and continuous Dynamic Disturbance Recording (DDR) at critical points including collector bus feeders, high-side of main power transformers, and shunt dynamic reactive devices. GOs must ensure the collection of specific electrical quantities such as phase-to-neutral voltages, phase currents, real and reactive power, and frequency at these locations. The standard also mandates evidence of proper data recording, timely restoration of any failed recording capability, or submission and implementation of a Corrective Action Plan if restoration is delayed. Compliance deadlines require 50% of applicable assets to meet these requirements within three years of the effective date, and all assets by January 1, 2030.
This module covers digitizing the assessment and compilation of compliance documentation to support compliance preparedness for NERC PRC-028-1.
