Power Systems Consulting

Licensed engineers. Every study the new grid requires.

Interconnection modeling, model quality testing, compliance studies, protection and event analysis for inverter-based plants and large loads. Every study runs in the Dashboard by the same validated procedure, with initial results within 72 hours once all data is in hand.

The studies

Compliance, interconnection, protection and events, on one record.

Each study below runs the same way every time: the inputs it needs, the steps it follows, the evidence it attaches and the report it produces. Add a plant or a standard and the same procedure extends to it. Click a study to open its module.

Compliance studies

PRC-029-2 ride-through evaluation

Ride-through capability, current and power priority, active power recovery, modeled and verified against as-left settings, with the exemption built into the same study where hardware limits apply.

PRC-028-1 disturbance monitoring assessment

Sequence-of-events, fault and dynamic disturbance recording assessed requirement by requirement against the plant's own files, every answer cited to its page.

PRC-030-1 event analysis and corrective action

Qualifying events identified from plant data, analyzed the same way every time, and Corrective Action Plans tracked to closure.

PRC-019 and PRC-024 coordination studies

Coordination of voltage regulating controls with protection, and voltage and frequency protection settings against the ride-through envelope.

MOD-025 reactive capability verification

Real and reactive capability verified at the point of measurement, documented for the Transmission Planner.

MOD-026 and MOD-027 model verification

Dynamic model parameters verified against the plant, with the parameter verification report generated from the record.

MOD-032 model data submission

Steady-state, dynamic and short-circuit model data assembled and submitted in the planning coordinator's format.

ERCOT NOGRR 245, NOGRR 255 and AVR studies

Regional ride-through, monitoring and voltage regulation requirements, run as their own studies alongside the NERC program.

Primary frequency response

Governor and plant controller response verified against the Balancing Authority's requirements.

CIP-002 and CIP-003 low impact program

BES Cyber Systems identified and categorized under CIP-002-5.1a, then the low impact cyber security plan under CIP-003-9 Attachment 1: security awareness, physical and electronic access controls, incident response, transient device protections and vendor remote access, with policies approved by your CIP Senior Manager.

Interconnection and modeling

Model quality testing

Automated EMT and RMS test suites, with pass or fail against the operator's rulebook and the evidence returned.

Plant model development

Aggregated inverter or turbine model, step-up transformers, equivalent collector system, shunt compensation, main power transformers and the plant controller, built in PSCAD, PSS®E, PSLF and TSAT.

EMT and RMS benchmarking

PSCAD, PSS®E and TSAT models benchmarked against each other and against first-principles checks, so every platform tells the same story.

Application models and cluster study support

Interconnection request models, study responses and the modification requests that follow a design change, filed in the operator's system on your behalf.

As-left model updates

Models updated to the installed settings from relay databases, controller exports and single-line diagrams, with the change log on the record.

Protection and plant

Protection coordination

Every relay's settings read from the native file, coordinated with the ride-through requirement and the plant controller, not a sample of three.

Relay settings review

Settings reviewed against the standard and the OEM manual, disagreements between documents recorded with the reason for the value chosen.

Temporary overvoltage and insulation coordination

Scoped from the ride-through study when it is triggered, so related work is found once rather than discovered later.

Events and large load

Event analysis

PMU, SER and DFR records ingested, events identified automatically, ride-through performance and reactive response documented for the operator.

Large-load interconnection and ride-through

Data centers modeled as plants: load-side model, interconnection studies and the operator's large-load ride-through suite, including ERCOT's connection-counter test.

How a study runs

Inspect. Verify. Simulate. Assess. Report.

The Dashboard does the mechanical work: reading the model, extracting settings, running the cases in isolated machines, finding the values in the traces, drafting the notes. The engineer applies judgment, reviews every verdict and signs.

1 · Inspect
The model package is read like a reviewer would: versions, topology, protection tiers, known issues.
2 · Verify
Every parameter compared with the plant's as-left settings. Only trip-zone behavior drives pass or fail.
3 · Simulate
The official test suite runs in a fresh virtual machine per case. You watch the results arrive in the Dashboard.
4 · Assess
Values are pulled from the traces exactly; the engineer rules on the gray areas and writes the notes.
5 · Report
The study produces the report and the evidence, reviewed independently and signed by a licensed engineer.

A large wind plant in Texas: about 930 documents read, every requirement of PRC-028-1 assessed and cited to the page, reviewed independently and delivered in 23 hours. By hand the same assessment averages six to eight weeks.

What is different

Not a report. A record that re-runs.

Transparency

You watch the work

Every task, every run and every intermediate result is visible to your team in the Dashboard as it happens. Nothing waits for an email.

Consistency

The same procedure for every plant

Fixed pricing, the same steps, the same evidence model. The result does not depend on which engineer got your file.

Reuse

The next standard starts from the record

Settings, models and evidence stay on the plant. When the next standard arrives, the study starts from what is already there.

One plant. One PRC-028-1 assessment. Free.

Pick a plant. We build its record and run its PRC-028-1 assessment at no cost, in under a week. Then decide.
