PSS/E Plant Model Development

A PSS/E plant model built from the OEM unit and plant controller models and your site's electrical data.

About this module

What this module covers.

The PSS/E model of your inverter-based resource (IBR) plant is developed using the original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-supplied IBR unit and power plant controller (PPC) models, and the electrical parameters (generator step-up transformer, collector equivalent, main power transformer, tie line, etc.) of the site to build an IBR plant representation. Site-specific details and one-line diagrams can be used as a starting point for the effort.

At a glance

Module: 071
Kind: Modeling studies
Governing body: Any region
Applies to: Before and after commercial operation
Typical time: Two to three weeks, all in, including your review

Dashboard capabilities

  • PSS/E Model Build Wizard
  • Model Workspace Management: your plant's simulation model files kept in one dashboard workspace, with version tracking

Support services

What GridStrong does inside this module.

  • Develop the PSS/E model of the site based on the electrical parameters of the IBR plant and the OEM-supplied models.
  • Configure the PSS/E model with compliant settings.
  • Test and verify that the model functions properly and adequately meets basic model acceptance criteria.

Final deliverables

  • The aggregate PSS/E model package of the IBR plant and corresponding documentation that describes the model.

What we need from you

  • Single-line diagram of the plant (electrical layout: generator step-up transformer, collector, main power transformer, tie line, etc.).
  • OEM-supplied dynamic models for the IBR units and the power plant controller.
  • Electrical parameters for the major equipment (transformer ratings/impedances, line lengths, collector equivalents).
  • Site-specific operating limits (point of interconnection voltage, MW/MVAR ratings, ride-through and trip settings).

Assumptions and considerations
