Compliance Services Manager

Runs the operational compliance program for specific customers and expands it plant by plant.

About the role

What this role is for.

Compliance Services is a different way into the same customer. It is sold on subject matter expertise and driven by the customer's work and their shortage of people, not by the Dashboard. A generation owner has a NERC standards calendar, evidence to collect, operator notices to answer, and PRC-028-1, PRC-029-2, MOD-025, MOD-026 and MOD-032 obligations across every plant. We run one program per customer, on the Dashboard, and expand it plant by plant until the whole fleet runs on the same program.

You will run that program for specific customers under the Director of Compliance: the standards calendar, the evidence, the audit readiness and the coordination with Power Systems on every study the program requires.

At a glance

Team: Forward Deployed Operations and Compliance Services
Level: Manager
Location: Remote, United States or Canada
Works with: The Director of Compliance, Forward Deployed Managers and Senior Managers of Forward Deployed Operations, Protection Engineering and Generation Studies, Client Success and Operations, and compliance managers and plant staff at your customers.

What you will do

  • Run the operational compliance program for your customers: the NERC standards calendar, RSAWs, evidence collection and retention, and audit and spot check readiness.
  • Manage operator notices and obligations in ERCOT and other markets, including NOGRR 245 and NOGRR 255 implementation tracking, as tasks in the Dashboard.
  • Identify each PRC and MOD study your customers' plants need and route it to Power Systems with the plant profile ready.
  • Run readiness reviews with the customer's compliance leadership and report posture plant by plant.
  • Expand the program to additional plants and standards and hand contracting to Client Success and Operations.
  • Keep the program on GridStrong's standard rather than building a bespoke one per customer, and improve the standard from what you learn.
  • Support the customer through audits as their subject matter expert.

What we are looking for

  • Five or more years in NERC compliance for a generator owner or operator, a utility or a compliance consultancy.
  • Hands-on experience with PRC and MOD standards for inverter-based resources, including PRC-028-1, PRC-029-2, MOD-025, MOD-026 and MOD-032 evidence.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting NERC audits or spot checks.
  • Organized and dependable: your customers' compliance deadlines run through you.
  • Clear, careful writer: RSAWs and evidence narratives are the deliverable.
  • Comfortable working inside the customer's team and tools.

Nice to have

  • ERCOT market and operator process experience.
  • Experience replacing a GRC platform or compliance tracker.
  • Protection or power systems engineering background.

The first 90 days

  • You own the compliance program for your first customers and the standards calendar is live in the Dashboard.
  • Every study need in the program is identified and routed to Power Systems.
  • You have run your first readiness review with the customer.
